About us
The Story Behind the Ecosystem
The AI & Data Science Learning Ecosystem is a joint initiative between the University of Trieste and a growing network of industry partners, built to connect academic research with real business innovation.
It grew out of the University’s full training path in data and artificial intelligence, from the Bachelor’s in AI and Data Analytics, through the Master’s in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, up to the PhD in Applied Data Science and Artificial Intelligence – developed together with Trieste’s leading research institutions: SISSA, ICTP, Area Science Park, INAF, and OGS.
Today the Ecosystem counts 11 partner companies, including Generali Italia, Modefinance, AcegasApsAmga, ASAC, Beantech, Cybertec, eXact lab, Real Comm, Servizi CGN, M-Cube, and Novalia, working together on a shared calendar of activities: an annual Job Fair, company seminars, hackathons and data challenges, and networking events open to students and partners alike.
Our mission is twofold: give students and researchers real access to industry careers and challenges, and give companies a direct line to the region’s next generation of AI and data talent.

BACHELOR’S DEGREE
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND DATA ANALYTICS
The Bachelor’s Degree in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics provides students with a solid foundation in mathematics, statistics, and computer science before diving into machine learning, formal methods for complex systems, classical AI (logic and automated reasoning), and data science techniques. Graduates are prepared for roles as AI system developers, data analysts, and data managers. The programme also serves as a direct path into one of two Master’s degrees: Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, or Scientific Data Intensive Computing.
MASTER’S DEGREE
DATA SCIENCE AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
The International Master’s Degree in Data Science and AI at the University of Trieste is taught entirely in English, blending theory, practice, and innovation to train the next generation of AI and data professionals. Students learn to design intelligent systems, extract insights from data, and build solutions with real impact on industry, research, and society. The programme is delivered with research institutes, innovation hubs, and companies across Trieste and Friuli Venezia Giulia – one of Europe’s leading science and technology ecosystems.
PHD PROGRAMME
APPLIED DATA SCIENCE AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
The Applied Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (ADSAI) PhD at the University of Trieste equips researchers with advanced data science and AI skills. With healthcare, industry, and social sciences applications, ADSAI is designed for those passionate about leveraging data to solve complex problems. In collaboration with local research institutions, the program offers a multidisciplinary and international learning environment.
